September 2017 Chapter MeetingHollins University, Moody Hall Topic: Six Sigma Tools in the World of Lean, Agile, Scrum, and SAFe Speaker: Donnie Havens, PMP Agenda: 6:00 – 6:45 – Dinner at Moody Hall Presentation Content: You can't swing a bag of door knobs today without hitting someone who uses Lean, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or any number of 'new' principles for getting work done. In reality, this is not all new. It started with Six Sigma in Hawthorne Illinois in the 1920's and then grew in Japan as they rebuilt after WWII in the 1940's. But it took Motorola in the 80's and Jack Welch at GE in the 90's to really establish the concept and principles that we now know as Lean and Agile. http://asq.org/pub/sixsigma/past/vol2_issue4/folaron.html So if you want to learn how to apply statistical analysis to get your production or processes to 3.4 defects per million opportunities, buy a book because that part of Six Sigma is boring. If you want to learn more about the tools and techniques that have proven effective since 1920 for improving process, root causing, and getting things done, then join us on September 12th as Donnie Havens takes some of his favorite Six Sigma tools and helps us apply them to everyday business. |
